The Open House Secret: What Your Agent Isn’t Telling You! 🏡🤫

When your agent suggests hosting an open house, you probably assume they’ll be the one standing at the door 🚪, greeting potential buyers, answering questions, and selling the unique features of your home. But here’s a little-known industry secret 🤫: 99% of the time, your agent isn’t the one hosting your open house. Instead, they outsource it to another agent - usually a brand-new, inexperienced one who knows little to nothing about your home. 😬

Why? Because open houses are often used as networking tools, not necessarily to sell your home, but for newer agents to meet potential buyers and build their client pipeline. And while that’s great for them, it’s not great for you. The person running your open house might not care about complaints, because they don’t have to answer to you. 😠

Let me tell you about the first and last time I outsourced an open house. The agents I trusted to host it parked in the middle of the driveway, blocking all four available spots 🚗🚙🚕🚐, plus a three-car parking area. They placed signs haphazardly, making the whole setup look unprofessional. Then they left early, tied the mailbox shut after attaching balloons to it 🎈📬, and ignored basic responsibilities - like turning off lights 💡, locking doors 🔑, and closing windows. The seller, who didn’t even live in the home, later got a complaint from the mailman. 📬😡

Beyond that, I’ve seen horror stories from other agents - thermostats adjusted without permission 🌡️, toilets left unflushed 🚽😖, and security concerns due to careless hosting. When an agent passes off your open house, they’re passing off responsibility. ❌

If you care about your home, you need an agent who does too. I personally host all my own open houses, because that’s my job - not someone else’s. 💪 I ensure every question is answered, every detail is handled, and your home is represented in the best possible way. 🏡✨ If your agent is too busy having fun on the weekends 🍹, or too busy in general 🏖️, maybe they shouldn’t be your agent.
